Fuse Board Upgrades (Consumer Units)
Your fuse board (the consumer unit) runs every circuit in the house. An old one is the weak spot we find most often. A modern board cuts the power in a split second when something goes wrong. That keeps you safe from shocks and fire.
We test every circuit before the swap, so there are no nasty surprises. We fit a quality board with surge protection and label every switch clearly. Most upgrades are done in a day, tested and certified to BS 7671.
What's included
Circuits tested first
We test every circuit before the swap, so any hidden fault is found and priced up front.
Protection on every circuit
Each circuit gets its own safety switch, so one fault never puts the whole house in the dark.
Surge protection
Your TV, computer and appliances are protected from power spikes as standard.
Labelled and certified
A clearly labelled board and a full certificate when we're done.
Fuse boards questions, answered
How much does a new fuse board cost?
It depends on the board and your circuits. We give you one fixed price for your job before any work starts.
How long will the power be off?
Usually a few hours in the middle of the day. We plan the swap to keep the time without power as short as we can.
Why does my new board trip when the old one didn't?
A new board picks up faults the old one missed. That's the protection doing its job. We test every circuit at the swap and fix what it finds.
Do I need a new fuse board?
If yours has old fuses, a wooden back or no safety switches (RCDs), it's worth an upgrade. We'll check it and tell you straight.
