Victorian villas, interwar schemes and new estates
Hamilton has homes from every era. Round Auchingramont Road there are big stone villas from the 1860s. Homes this old have often been rewired more than once, with bits of old and new wiring mixed. That is why we test every circuit before we quote.
Whitehill is mostly council semis in stone and brick from the 1920s and 1930s. It also has timber houses from the 1940s, built with wood sent from Norway after the war. Hillhouse is a large post-war council estate on the west side of town. Many of these homes have now been bought by their owners. Kitchens, extensions and loft rooms have been added over the years, so the fuse board is often working harder than it was ever meant to.
The town is still growing. New homes are going up round Earnock and Meikle Earnock. The council is also building new homes in Burnbank and Whitehill. New homes need extra sockets, outside lights and EV chargers. Older homes need fuse board upgrades and safety checks. We do both.
