Your local electrician in Motherwell

Motherwell is home. We are based in Ravenscraig, so most of the town is only a few minutes away. From the new streets on the old steelworks site to the stone villas off Hamilton Road, we look after homes, landlords and businesses right across ML1.

You get a NICEIC Approved Contractor with 13 years in the trade. We turn up when we say, explain every step in plain words and leave the place spotless.

Our base is in Ravenscraig, about a mile north east of the town centre. That puts all of Motherwell close by, from Forgewood and North Motherwell to Airbles and the streets round Fir Park.

A steel town with new streets and old stone

Ravenscraig was once a huge steelworks. Its strip mill was finished in 1959 and the works closed in 1992. Since then the site has filled with new homes. Barratt, David Wilson, Taylor Wimpey and Keepmoat have all built here, along with council homes on streets like Northcraig Drive. These homes have modern wiring. Owners still call us for extra sockets, outside lights, EV chargers and faults that crop up as a house gets lived in.

The older town is a different story. Motherwell grew fast with the iron and steel works after the railway came in the 1840s. Round Hamilton Road the plots were first sold in 1879 for sandstone villas. North Lanarkshire Council says many of these homes are now over 100 years old. Brandon Street and Merry Street still have red and yellow sandstone tenements from the early 1900s. Old homes like these can hide tired cables, old fuse boards and too few sockets for modern life.

There are also plenty of council and former council homes in schemes like Forgewood and Muirhouse. The council is replacing many of its tower blocks, so some streets are changing again. Wherever you live, we test what is there first and tell you straight what needs doing and what can wait.

Do you work in the new-build homes at Ravenscraig?

Yes. We are based in Ravenscraig, so it is right on our doorstep. We add sockets and lights, fit EV chargers and track down faults in the newer homes.

Can you rewire an old sandstone house in Motherwell?

Yes. We test the whole house first, then plan the work room by room. We protect your floors, explain each step and leave the place spotless at the end of every day.

Do I need interlinked smoke alarms in my Motherwell home?

Since 1 February 2022 every home in Scotland needs ceiling smoke alarms in the living room and hallways plus a heat alarm in the kitchen, all linked together. We can fit a mains or sealed battery system for you.

Can you do an EICR for my rented flat?

Yes. Private landlords in Scotland need an EICR at least every five years. We do the test, give you the report and explain anything that needs fixing in plain words.
